The east is where the sun arrives. Indra, king of the Devas, receives that first light and relays it through the household. This is the entrance zone.

Main entrance, veranda, reception. Floor level should step down slightly to the east so morning light can flood in.
When afflicted
A blocked or cluttered east weakens the head of the household — delays in promotion, cough, eye strain.

Misaligned Agni causes digestive disorders, money leaks, unexplained fires, conflict.

Storage, heavy cupboards, staircases, thick walls. Never place the main entrance in the south unless exceptional muhurta alignment permits.
When afflicted
An open, light, or cut south causes loss of status, premature death in family, chronic fatigue.

A missing or cut S-W causes instability, loss of elders, financial drainage, unreliable partnerships.

Varuna वरुण

A toilet in the wrong west sub-zone causes urinary issues, stalled profession, loss of moral clarity.

When afflicted
A toilet, storage, or heavy mass in the N-E is the single worst Vastu fault — blocks grace, stalls children, and invites disease.
